BECOME A FOSTER PARENT
Sometimes
we would love to enjoy the benefits and pleasures of sharing our lives
with a companion animal but the time might not be right and we are
unable to make that life-time commitment. If this is the case then
fostering a pet might be the right solution for you.
Everyone
hopes that no animal will ever have to be turned away from SAD, but SAD
can and does, get full. These are the times when we have to turn
to our foster homes to ensure that any animal that needs our help will
receive it. Any animal that is placed in a foster home will have
been spayed/neutered and all shots will be up to date.
We also
often need foster homes to provide special care for a cat or dog who is
convalescing; who needs to be on a special diet or needs that extra
t.l.c. that shelter staff may not always have the time to
provide. We call these our “Special Needs Foster Homes”.
What Does it Take to Become a Foster Parent?
Love, understanding and affection;
Time to provide a nurturing environment;
Patience as your new friend learns your routines and what your expectations are;
Must be 21 years of age or older and prepared to complete our foster application form and agree to a home visit.
Being a Foster Parent is very rewarding. You can be a Foster parent for a short period of time, or a longer commitment, depending on the animal's requirements.
SAD will cover all costs, including food and Veterinary care.
You, as a Foster Parent, just provide love and TLC to the animal in your own home...
By
becoming a foster parent you can be proud to know that you have helped
to save a life by ensuring that there is always space for “one more” at
our Shelter and that no animal in need will ever be turned away.
Being a foster parent can be a fun and rewarding experience for you and your family and new foster homes are always needed.
